– Evening Support Staff –
About the role
The Support Staff role focuses on ensuring the safety, comfort, and smooth operation of the center while supporting residents and other staff members. It involves both floor work and main desk responsibilities. This role requires strong communication, patience, empathy, and organizational skills to manage both direct client interactions and the operational needs of our center.
Support Staff help ensure residents feel safe, supported, and engaged while assisting with the smooth evening operations of the center.
You’ll combine resident interaction, safety supervision, and administrative responsibilities in a collaborative team setting.
Key Responsibilities
Resident Support & Engagement
• Supervise and support residents during evening activities
• Provide encouragement, structure, and respectful guidance
• Assist residents with schedules and daily routines
• Offer supportive listening to residents experiencing stress
Safety & Supervision
• Conduct headcounts and room checks
• Monitor resident activity and ensure house rules are followed
• De-escalate conflicts using calm and professional communication
• Respond to emergencies and follow safety protocols
Operations & Front Desk
• Greet visitors and answer incoming calls
• Monitor building entry and security cameras
• Assist with resident admissions and returns
• Maintain activity logs and incident reports
Medication & Documentation
• Dispense pre-packaged medications following strict protocols
• Maintain accurate medication and shift logs
• Provide clear handovers to incoming staff
Facility Support
• Oversee resident chores
• Maintain cleanliness of common areas
• Support an organized and welcoming environment
Skills & Qualifications
Strong Communication: Ability to interact effectively with clients, staff, and visitors.
Crisis Management & De-escalation: Stay calm under pressure and handle conflicts professionally.
Observation & Awareness: Monitor client behavior, identify risks, and ensure safety.
Organization & Documentation: Maintain logs, reports and medication records accurately.
Empathy & Patience: Provide emotional support and encouragement to residents.
Teamwork & Adaptability: Work collaboratively in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Experience in security, crisis intervention, or residential support preferred.
Basic understanding of addiction and mental health
Comfortable using Microsoft Teams

Assets
