Our Admissions Criteria
To provide the highest quality of care possible, Dunham House adheres to specific admissions criteria.

We can accept residents who are:
- Male or female and 18 years+
- Struggling with substance use disorder (alcohol and/or drugs) with or without concurrent mental health disorders.
- Free of acute medical conditions requiring hospitalization
- Stable mental health condition; must not pose an immediate risk of harm to self or others
- Capable of adhering to prescribed medications
- Willing and able to participate in a structured residential program
- Committed to recovery and a willingness to follow house rules
- Capable of self-care and managing daily activities independently
- Physically and mentally stable to engage in group and individual therapy
- Able to read and understand English.
- On social aid (in good standing)

We CANNOT accept residents who are:
- On Methadone
- In need of detox
- With unmanaged severe psychiatric conditions (e.g., active psychosis, suicidal or homicidal ideation)
-Have a history of violence or aggressive behavior posing a risk to staff or residents - Severe cognitive impairments preventing participation in therapy
- Have convictions for violent crimes or sexual offenses
- Incontinent
- In a wheelchair or have an inability to safely climb stairs
