New Outpatient Services at the Queen Elizabeth Complex

Dunham House is excited to announce the launch of its new outpatient services in the heart of Montreal. Operating out of a light-filled room in the Queen Elizabeth Complex, the outpatient facility aims to provide both Alumni and those just beginning their journey with helpful resources in their recovery.

Celebrated at a launch event on Thursday, May 2nd, the new outpatient services are a milestone in Dunham House's continued efforts to provide a continuum of care to those suffering from addiction and concurrent mental health disorders.

Continued Expansion of Mental Health & Addiction Services for Dunham House

The launch of our outpatient services comes a few months after the unveiling of our second building in Fall 2023, which increased our capacity from 28 to 40 beds in our residential treatment centre in Dunham.

This expansion marks our continued commitment to offering much-needed services as the only dual diagnosis program of its kind in Quebec that offers programs in English. We are proud to support the English-speaking mental health community with evidence-based care specializing in addiction and concurrent mental health disorders.

And now, with the addition of outpatient services in Montreal, Dunham House is able to offer a continuum of care to Alumni, as well as to those just starting their recovery journey.

With many individuals in the Dunham House network residing in Montreal, the sanctuary at the Queen Elizabeth Complex provides those in recovery with a physical connection back to Dunham House for weekly therapy sessions and counselling. This is invaluable part of treatment contributes to individuals' re-integration into their lives post-treatment.

The Importance of Outpatient Mental Health and Addiction Services in Montreal

Outpatient services are a core part of the recovery journey for Dunham House residents, providing continuity for those having completed our 1- and 6-month residential programs.

Our staff is available to offer ongoing transition support as alumni of our residential programs return back into their daily lives. Through weekly therapy and ongoing touchpoints, individuals are encouraged to maintain the healthy habits developed during their time at Dunham House while building their independence - ensuring the sustainability of their recovery.

In addition, outpatient services provide numerous benefits to individuals recovering from addiction and concurrent mental health disorders, including:

1) Flexibility in Recovery

Individuals can continue their treatment while maintaining daily routines and commitments, including work, school and family. By being located in Montreal, our outpatient services provide an extra layer of flexibility for the many Dunham House alumni living near the major city.

2) Community & Connection

Maintaining a supportive sobriety community is critical in many individuals' path to recovery. By having a physical place to connect with their network, alumni can build a support system and sense of belonging that strengthens long-term recovery.

3) Continuum of Care

Ongoing support is a key factor in the long-term success of our alumni. However, our outpatient therapy services are also critical for individuals who are just beginning their road to recovery and may need immediate support as they await integration into a residential treatment program - such as the ones offered by Dunham House in the Eastern Townships. Our outpatient services give us additional ways to support the English-speaking mental health community with much-needed services.

Event highlights: Celebrating the Launch of Outpatient Services

On Thursday, May 1st, friends of Dunham House gathered together at the Queen Elizabeth Complex to celebrate the launch of the new outpatient services in Montreal. We were grateful to see a great turnout that included our clinical staff team, members of our advisory board, and supporters of Dunham House in Quebec's mental health community.

A wonderful spread was put together by The Buzz Cafe Knowlton, which kept guests full as they learned about the importance of Dunham House's new outpatient services as a beacon for English-speaking mental health and addiction recovery

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to attend the lovely evening. Our mission to be a refuge for recovery to all those suffering from mental health and addiction would not be possible without our supportive community.

Looking ahead: Outpatient Services at Dunham House

With outpatient programs already underway, we look forward to seeing the impact of our expanded continuum of care on Dunham House alumni and residents.

This is in addition to our continued efforts to establish industry-leading, evidence-based treatment programs that lead in mental health and addiction recovery. With a focus on dual diagnosis treatment, our efforts to provide top-of-the-line  care to individuals of all background and experiences in Quebec, Canada and beyond.
